Course Description

This course introduces students to the core concepts of cybersecurity, focusing on systems and network security, applied cryptography, governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC).

Students will also learn Python programming for cybersecurity tasks, ethical considerations in cybersecurity, and effective communication skills for cybersecurity professionals.

The course combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on labs and case studies to provide a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices. 

Course Outcomes

At the end of the course, students should be able to: 

1. Explain the fundamentals of systems and network security and their importance in protecting organizational assets. 

2. Apply cryptographic techniques to secure data and communications. 

3. Develop basic Python scripts to automate cybersecurity tasks such as network scanning and log analysis. 

4. Understand governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC) frameworks and their role in cybersecurity. 

5. Analyze ethical dilemmas in cybersecurity and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
